Jorge Jimeno Almeida


(Gijón 1974). Ingeniero de primera formación, descubriría su pasión por el teatro cuando llegó a Madrid en el año 2000. Actor, director, productor y, ante todo, autor, ha estrenado hasta la fecha cuatro obras teatrales que llevan su firma: El Otro Sentido de la Vida; La Despedida; Manual de la Perfecta Viajera; y Cumbre Mundial. Diego Bergier, Marta Rubio y Carlos De Matteis son algunos de los directores y dramaturgos con los que ha trabajado y aprendido de las artes teatrales. En 2010 funda la compañía Montajes en el Abismo que codirige junto a Ana de la Hoz y con la que da vida a sus producciones. Sus obras se conocen en España, Argentina, Uruguay y Paraguay, sumando ya más de 500 representaciones. Tras su paso por la Escuela de Cine de San Antonio de los Baños de Cuba, Jimeno ha escrito y dirigido varios cortometrajes. Es autor del libro Mamá, quiero ser cooperante, ensayo donde describe el sector laboral de la cooperación internacional y la ayuda humanitaria.


Born in Gijón in 1974, writer, director and actor Jorge Jimeno trained as an engineer before moving to Madrid and discovering his passion for theatre in 2000. In 2010 he wrote and directed his first comedy, The Other Meaning of Life (El otro sentido de la vida), which won awards at several fringe theatre festivals. His second play, The Farewell (La despedida), premiered in 2014 and has since been produced in Spain, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay; it has been performed over 150 times. His third play, Manual for a Perfect Traveller (Manual de la perfecta viajera), opened in May 2016, a carefree comedy that returns to the style of his debut play. In 2012 he graduated in film production from the international film and television school of Cuba (EICTV), and has written and directed three short films to date: Change of Life (Cambiar de vida, 2012), Because if not (Porque si no, 2013), and Go with the Poor (Vaya con los pobres, 2012). His activity as a writer is completed with the publication of the book Mummy, I Want to Be an Aid Worker (Mamá, quiero ser cooperante), a project on which he has been working for several years. Jorge’s passion is for telling stories, be it through writing, directing or acting.
