The inheritance of apathy

The Inheritance of Apathy tells the story of a woman whose aura of fatality has shaped her existence since her youth, under alienating circumstances that have as much to do with the society around her as it does with her family. Using a dramatic technique that mixes psychologism with realism, the analysis of circumstance with sociological theatre, expressionist aesthetics and the linguistic and sound cadences of the Baroque, the play explores the rational and life experiences of Asterisca Itala, the protagonist of the monologue, revealing her desires, her frustrations and her own sense and concept of justice. The Inheritance of Apathy is, ultimately, all at once a scream of anguish and self-reflection by a woman whose plaintive cries combine the pain of the abused with the primitive strength of the victim who rebels; the emotional anguish of someone who can do nothing to prevent a tragic decision by the state.
