Sinopsis La exaltación de un señorito follador y pendenciero que acaba condenado o arrepentido (según versiones) pudo ser transgresión en otro tiempo, y aun eso está por ver, pero a la luz del siglo XXI, mal se sostiene que semejante personaje pueda ejercer ninguna acción transformadora. Su función como desahogo de reprimidos o como advertencia de pecadores no tiene lugar en nuestra sociedad. Ahora bien, la amalgama de sexo, violencia, religión y muerte con que se forjó el mito mantiene viva toda su capacidad dramática y, en consecuencia, más que por una actualización de los Burladores al uso, opté por reescribir un Don Juan de nueva planta que evocara las peripecias de antaño y reflejara a un tiempo la nueva realidad

Synopsis Praising a fast-cocked, trouble-making youth who (depending on the version) winds up punished and repentant may have been transgressive in days gone by, but in the light of the 21st Century, it’s hard to imagine that such a character could have any transformative effect. His function, be it as a release for the repressed or as a warning to sinners, has no place in our society. And yet, the amalgam of sex, religion and death that forged his legend still has a dramatic power. As a result, rather than opting for a standard reinvention of the Don Juan myth, I have rewritten his story anew, reflecting the unfortunate events of long ago while reflecting at the same time our new reality.
