THE DAMNED WALTZ
7 personajes, 5 hombres y 2 mujeres. En una especie de Hades, tres escritores franceses esperan ser juzgados por el tribunal de la posteridad; la posteridad es insolente. Son Louis Aragon, André Malraux y Pierre Drieu la Rochelle. Al morir la profesora Dominique de Beaumanoir, que tuvo amores con cada uno de ellos en diversos momentos de su vida, ésta llega a los ínferos y asume la defensa de los tres.La pieza cuenta el juicio, el proceso, el enfrentamiento entre ellos, las defensas, las peleas. Tono a veces muy cómico, con referencias a la historia de Francia del siglo XX, la Ocupación, el colaboracionismo, la literatura francesa, etc. Es en rigor una obra sobre la crisis de la conciencia europea en el siglo XX, a través del caso francés y de tres intelectuales que representan tres tendencias: Drieu o el fascismo colaboracionista, Aragon o el comunismo prosoviético hasta que ya no es posible seguir mintiéndose, y Malraux o el revolucionario convertido en adalid de la salvación de Francia mediante el gaullismo, un difícil equilibrio entre liberalismo e intervencionismo nacionalista.

They are Louis Aragon, André Malraux and Pierre Drieu la Rochelle. After Professor Dominique de Beaumoir death, who was lover of the three of them in different moments in her life, she arrives in the “inferos” and she assumes the defense of them. The play is the trial, the process, the confrontation of the three writers, the defenses, the quarrels. Comical, very often, with references to the history of France in XXth Century, the Occupation, the Collaborationism, French literature, etc. It is a play about the crisis of European conscience, thought the “French case” ant three of its representative intellectuals: Drieu or the Collaborationist Fascism, Aragon or the pro-soviet Communism till the moment in which it is not possible to deceive oneself anymore, and Malraux, the revolutionary man changed in champion of the Salvation of France by the Gaullism, a delicate balance of liberalism and nationalist interventionism.
