Sinopsis Los Hidalgo aguardan el inminente retorno de su hijo Javier tras un largo período de ausencia. Será para Navidad. Javier regresa de los Estados Unidos de América a donde se ha ido a vivir un tiempo con el fin de conocer de primera mano al "enemigo", las entrañas del “imperio”. Simón y Alicia Hidalgo son anticapitalistas y antimperialistas, con profundas y arraigadas convicciones de izquierda. Bajo estas premisas han criado a sus dos hijos, Javier y Ana. Sin embargo, al retornar a casa después de su larga estadía en USA, Javier les tiene preparada una sorpresa. "Padres & hijos" es una obra con tintes cotidianos que nos presenta a una familia que si bien no llega a ser del todo común, se nos asemeja mucho en diversos aspectos, puesto que todos hemos sido hijos y en algún momento somos o seremos padres. En cierta ocasión León Tolstói escribió que todas las familias felices se asemejan, pero que cada familia desdichada era desdichada a su manera.

Synopsis The Hidalgos are waiting for the imminent return of their son Javier after a long period of absence, for Christmas. Javier is coming back from the US where he has been living for a while in order to experience the ‘enemy’ first-hand, the ‘belly of the “empire”’. Simón and Alicia Hidalgo are anti-capitalists and anti-imperialists, with deeply entrenched left-wing beliefs. They have brought up their children, Javier and Ana, with these values. But on his return home from a long stint in the US, Javier has prepared a surprise for them. Parents and Children is a play of everyday lives that introduces us to a family that, although they may not be completely ordinary, are very similar to us in various ways: we were all children once, and at some point we are, or will be, parents. Leo Tolstoy once wrote that all happy families are similar, but that each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
