Sinopsis María de Zayas Sotomayor nació en Madrid el año en 1590, esa soy yo. Mis padres, pertenecientes a la nobleza menor, sirvió mi progenitor, capitán de infantería, al Conde de Lemos entre continuos traslados pues, el de Nápoles fue nombrado virrey y allí fuimos. Doy gracias a ello ya que allí obtuve conocimientos de gentes y otras. Fueron mis años cercanos a los de Miguel de Cervantes. Del maestro tomé el ingenio para trazar perfiles. No toleré injusticias y las denuncié en tono bien indignado con mi pluma aderezada, según alguien, con recio orgullo femenino por la fuerte independencia de mi alma. En mi escritura, no resté imágenes escabrosas ni mermé mi gusto, del cual hay quien opinó entonces que era morboso, violento o cruel, magia ni encantamientos. Mostré en mis textos lo que se derivade la pasión, para mí: opresión, engaño, miseria y quizá escarmiento, Juzguen ustedes.

Synopsis María de Zayas Sotomayor was born in Madrid in 1590, that's me. My parents, belonging to the minor nobility, served my father, captain of infantry, to the Count of Lemos between continuous transfers because, the one of Naples was named viceroy and there we went. I give thanks to this because there I obtained knowledge from people and others. They were my years close to those of Miguel de Cervantes. From the master I took the ingenuity to draw profiles.
